About The Opportunity

Job Summary:This position is responsible for machining aerospace parts to the specifications of the job assigned through the utilization of milling and turning machinery at GKN Aerospace Manchester, CT.

Required Minimum Education:

  • High school diploma, or equivalent work experience.

  • Associate’s degree and/or certificate in CNC Machine Technology a plus.

Required Minimum Experience:

  • 2-5 years CNC Machining experience for VTL operation and controls.

  • Experience within an aerospace manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Basic troubleshooting skills; such as identifying tooling issues.

  • Ability to communicate well in English (both written and orally).

  • Ability to read blueprints.

  • Familiarity with the use of measuring devices.

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing and walking (5 hrs. /day).

  • Ability to carry and lift weight up to 30lbs.

  • Bending, squatting, reaching, pushing, and pulling required (2-3 hrs. /day).

  • Use of hands for fine dexterity, light and strong grasping (5 hrs. /day).

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate milling and turning machines for the manufacturing of Rough, Finished and or Semi-finished products.

  • Conduct machine set-ups for assigned work.

  • Ensures correct use of inspection equipment, tooling, preventive maintenance, and Safety procedures.

  • Reports unusual problems to the Supervisor/Manager.

  • Ensure that the tasks above are performed in a timely manner and that the paperwork associated with the tasks.

  • Conducts new hire training when necessary.

  • Basic troubleshooting skills; such as identifying tooling issues.

  • Ability to run a majority of the product mix.

  • Maintains a good quality track record.

  • Responsible for machining all parts including finished products.

  • All other duties as assigned.
