We are seeking a talented individual to join Group Benefits Compliance. As a member of a cross-functional team, this entry-level role has the opportunity to transition into more senior roles in Compliance and Law in the future, as well as other departments in the company, while developing transferrable skills and gaining knowledge on the insurance industry and its complex regulatory concerns along the way. This position is located in Hartford, Connecticut and will report to the Director of Compliance, Corrective Actions / Risk Assessment.
Support GB Compliance teams with core compliance processes including: corrective action plans (CAPs), environmental scanning, regulatory reporting, advertising review
Assists with the process work related to the CAPs processes, including but not limited to, monthly CAPs preparation, validation processes, reporting
Works with Compliance managers to develop validation plans for individual corrective actions, legislative items requiring changes and in some cases may suggest recommendations/next steps
Assists Compliance director in establishing processes related to controls / control design for compliance projects
Assists with the risk assessment process and control review / design
Assists in gathering relevant documentation, policy information, data pulling and reporting
Assists with records retention activities, workspace creation and maintenance
Supports Compliance Managers and Law in conducting policy or procedural research for any Insurance Department inquiry including complaints and Market Conduct Exams or any other necessary policy, procedural research and policy record production
Liaises with third-party advisers and regulatory authorities
4 year degree or equivalent experience required
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the insurance industry with broad exposure to company policies and processes
Strong computer skills; advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint; SharePoint is a plus)
Experience with technology platforms such as Archer is a plus
Proven experience and knowledge:
Supporting lines of business and or functional areas
Gathering relevant documentation and policy information, conducting procedural and policy research and pulling data via internal tools and applications
Process improvement experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong technical knowledge, analytical and problem solving skills
Interest in the legal and political aspects of the industry and extensive regulatory insurance knowledge preferred
Previous experience with state regulators a plus
Advanced critical thinking skills
Ability to work autonomously
Highly organized - with a commitment to quality, accuracy and driving results with an exceptional attention to detail
Demonstrated excellence in work product
Time management skills - ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines
