Teamwork is Currency at Crane
We're looking for a Beater Helper to perform the tasks necessary to maintain a steady supply of raw materials to the furnish and broke pulper conveyors in the beater room, the beginning of paper making operation. Once trained in this position, incumbent will receive additional training to perform other tasks within the manufacturing operation, as needed. This is an entry-level, rotating shift, position within our manufacturing line of progression.
Properly identify and inspect stock and broke grades and load onto conveyors
Clip wires on baled stock and safely operate a wire/band chopper
Enter stock information into the computer
Fill in for the janitor and assist in snow removal and sanding, as required
Operate the furnishing pulper
Operate the broke pulper and various associated equipment
Maintain beater area including entering the chest for cleaning
Remove broke from the entire work area
Assist the Machine Crew, when necessary
Assist, as needed, during shutdown activities

High School Diploma or equivalent
Industrial experience, preferred
Basic mathematical skills
Ability to learn basic computer programs; e mail, scanning, data entry
Ability to pass Power Truck Certification, and safely operate power trucks
Be able to perform all physical requirements of the job and work in a safe manner
Learn, follow and sustain 5 S and lean principles
Understand and follow operating/job procedures
Ability to learn the operation of various beater room equipment and processes
Ability to read and write, to keep neat and accurate records, and to follow written and verbal instructions
Ability to fully understand the quality requirements of Crane products, and his/her role in ensuring this quality
Must be willing and able to work any shift arrangement and overtime as needed
The person selected for this position will need to demonstrate suitability for employment in a position of Public Trust consistent with our US Government contract requirements.
